Mr Paul Allen

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

Paul Allen is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Princess Alexandra NHS Trust in Harlow. He has been on the staff since 1991 and has been the lead clinician for the orthopaedic department for most of that time. He carries out private practice at Holly House Hospital in Buckhurst Hill and The Rivers Hospital in Sawbridgeworth.

His special interest is in knee surgery. His particular field of expertise is in primary and revision knee replacement and arthroscopic surgery, including meniscal repair and ligament reconstruction. He, also, works on the normal trauma rota and has carried out many primary and revision hip procedures.

In the field of knee surgery, he is well known nationally and internationally as a joint replacement surgeon. He established the Harlow Knee Meeting almost 15 years ago. This major Arthroplasty meeting is held twice a year and has attracted delegates from across Europe. The template of the meeting is now used for a similar conference in Australia. The meeting provides an opportunity for trainees and consultants to learn about knee replacement and to join in dynamic discussion, as well as to watch Mr Allen perform knee replacement surgery on a live video link.
